Lights Camera Teach!
Good morning students !! Am I audible? Am I visible?
This is how our day begins as teachers now. Initially scared, super camera conscious we all were. Nothing less than 4 takes to begin a class. Thanks to pandemic. All this happened. We had no option than to upgrade ourselves with the technology. It also made us realise upgrading ourselves technically does not just mean a shift from signature to biometric.
We learnt new terms like login 5 min before schedule instead of saying be in class before time, mute yourselves instead of saying keep quite. We now tell the students to come online to class instead of saying go in line to class. We ask them to press the raise hand button to clarify a doubt instead of asking them to raise hands. Assignments which were submitted for corrections are now uploaded in PDF format for the same
Months have passed now, got used to recognising the students by their voices not by faces. We are confident enough to focus at the focus of camera lens and teach. But the question arises what if physical classes resume? While, we still would rock there, for the known fact that there is no substitute for physical classes. Only thing that we would change is our approach to class. We would walk in with headphone and camera so that students would recognise us and we would close our eyes to call out names of students who were talking simply because we have only heard them not seen them.
These are just a few changes we have seen. As quoted by Winston Churchill “To improve is to change, to be perfect is to change often”. From the telephones to mobile phones, from desktop to laptop, from travelling 3 hours everyday to silk board to WFH all that’s happened is for good. On a lighter note, even the change of weather in our city which sometimes showed us 4 seasons a day has made us fit than what we were yesterday. We change for the better to see the best ahead
Change is something inevitable. Change is the only constant. Changes that happen for good or bad we learn to get adapted. So as students what can you work on to be perfect? A new way to think, a way to solve a problem, a new method of study pattern, a combination of hard work and smart work. Hard work to learn a new concept and smart work to know where, when and how to apply it. This would be helpful to crack the exams at different levels. Making your weakness your strength is the biggest change oneself can make. Put your mind, heart and soul to smallest of things you do, this is the key factor for success.
